Lagos State FA Hosts ‘Saturday Football Fiesta’ for Youth on August 10

In an ambitious move to enhance football in Lagos, the Lagos State Football Association LSFA is set to host the ‘Saturday Football Fiesta’ on August 10, 2024. The event will be held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, from 7 am to 10 am. It targets young boys and girls with various exciting activities.

The first part of the event is the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, a collaboration between LSFA and the Nigeria Football Federation NFF. This segment, scheduled from 7 am to 7 pm, will feature mentors such as NFF Technical Director Austin Eguavoen and Scheme Director Nasiru Jibril.

The initiative aims to scout and nurture young football talent, providing necessary tools and knowledge for success in the sport. Following the talent development scheme, there will be a programme titled ‘It’s Time For Girls’, specifically designed for female players.

This programme includes a mini tournament for girls aged 6 to 17, training sessions, workshops, and mentorship opportunities. The event supports gender equality and the growth of female football, as emphasized by Mrs. Raliat Abdulsalam, Chairman of the Female Football Development Committee. Austin Eguavoen and Nasiru Jibril will oversee the events, marking a significant milestone in the development of football in Lagos.
