Falconets Squad Unveiled by Coach Danjuma for 2023 African Games

Chris Danjuma, the Falconets’ head coach, has announced his selection of 20 players for Nigeria’s participation in the women’s football event at the 13th African Games. The squad includes goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, team captain and defender Oluchi Ohaegbulem, midfielder Adoo Yina, and forward Chiamaka Okwuchukwu. Other notable selections are goalkeeper Faith Omilana, defenders Shukurat Oladipo and Jumoke Alani, midfielders Chioma Olise and Olushola Shobowale, and forwards Blessing Okpe and Judith Okah.

Nigeria, the defending champions, finds itself in Group B with Morocco, Senegal, and Cameroon. The host nation, Ghana, will face Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda in Group A. The matches are scheduled to be held at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The Falconets previously clinched the gold medal at the 12th African Games held in Rabat, Morocco, in October 2019. The team is poised to defend its title with a strong lineup that promises exciting performances.
