The much anticipated 2024 Ikeja DFA/Honourable Rasaq Ajala HRA Women’s League kicked off on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Anwal ul Islam College, Oniwaya, Agege, with a spectacular opening ceremony that attracted football fans, local dignitaries, and sports enthusiasts. The highlight of the day was the opening match, where Ghetto Tigers Ladies GTL secured a 3-1 victory over Fackson Nextpro Angels in Group A.
Fackson’s Omolara scored an early goal, putting her team in the lead, but the Ghetto Tigers quickly responded. Rokibat Egberongbe equalised, and two crucial goals from Ebube Jude and Ebube Jessica ensured a comfortable win for the Ghetto Tigers.
Oluwatomisin Oluwafemi, who played a pivotal role in the midfield for GTL, was named Woman of the Match. Reflecting on the victory, she said, It’s a great start for us. We came here to win, and this is just the beginning. We’re ready to give our best in every match and make our supporters proud.
