Barau FC Names Former Super Eagles Assistant Salisu Yusuf Head Coach

Barau FC, a Nigeria National League team, has appointed former Super Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yusuf as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming season. The 62 year old coach signed a one year contract with the club, which is owned by Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau. Yusuf, who brings a wealth of experience from coaching top domestic clubs like Nasarawa United, Kano Pillars, Enyimba, and El Kanemi Warriors, is tasked with guiding Barau FC to promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL.

Yusufโ€™s notable coaching achievements include leading the home-based Super Eagles to the final of the 2018 African Nations Championship CHAN in Morocco. Before joining Barau FC, he served as an advisor to Rivers United’s technical crew. His first assignment at Barau FC will be leading the team in the 2024 Gusau/Ahlan Pre season Tournament in Jos, where a 30 man squad has been announced.
