Rangers International FC has signed former Super Eagles striker Michael Uchebo ahead of the second stanza of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL, which resumes this weekend. The 34 year old forward, who earned five caps for the Super Eagles and featured in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, returns to Rangers after a stint with the club in 2008-2009.
The experienced striker’s comeback is expected to bolster Rangers’ ambitions of finishing in the top three and qualifying for continental club competitions. Uchebo joins a growing list of former Super Eagles players returning to the NPFL, including Ahmed Musa Kano Pillars and Brown Ideye Enyimba International.
Rangers, currently fourth on the NPFL table with 31 points, will also debut new signings Ejike Uzoechi and Patrick Egeonu from Sporting Lagos. They are set to face Niger Tornadoes at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, on Sunday, January 26, 2025.
