Emmanuel Uchegbu Joins Charlotte FC from AS Trencin

Nigerian forward Emmanuel Uchegbu has completed a move from Slovakian club AS Trencin to Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC. The transfer was officially confirmed by Trencin, following reports that the 20 year old had signed a multi-year deal with Charlotte FC after passing his medical in Europe.

Uchegbu’s contract runs through the 2028 season, with an option for 2029. He will initially play for Charlotte’s reserve team, Crown Legacy FC, where he is expected to remain for at least six months before competing for a spot in the first team.

The young striker joined AS Trencin in 2023, initially playing for their U19 squad before earning a promotion to the senior side. During his time at the club, he made 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

In a farewell message, Uchegbu expressed gratitude to Trencin’s coaches, management, and fans, acknowledging the club’s role in his development.

Uchegbu was previously part of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles squad at the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, featuring in three matches. His professional journey began in Nigeria with Ifeanyi Ubah FC in the 2020-21 season before moving to Plateau United FC in 2021.
