NNL Imposes Transfer Ban on Gombe Utd, Dakkada FC, and Wikki Tourists

The Nigeria National League NNL has imposed a transfer ban on Gombe United FC, Dakkada FC, and Wikki Tourists due to outstanding debts to former players. This action, confirmed in a letter from Dr Ayo AbdulRahman on 7th November 2024, prevents these clubs from registering new players for the 2024/2025 season until they settle their debts, in line with FIFA’s regulations on player status and transfers.

The decision follows a ruling by the newly formed Players Status and Arbitration Committee PSAC, created under the Nigeria Football Federation NFF to address contract disputes between players, coaches, and clubs. The PSAC has already made progress, enforcing compliance from various clubs despite initial resistance. These clubs had been relegated to the NNL after the 2023/2024 season, and this ban emphasizes the NNL’s commitment to upholding players’ rights and enforcing financial accountability.
