Seven-time African champions, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, will begin their campaign at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations with a match against Egypt’s Young Pharaohs on Wednesday, April 30. The game will take place at the 20,000-capacity Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo, kicking off at 5 p.m. Côte d’Ivoire time 6 p.m. Nigeria time.
Their second group match will be against the Young Atlas Lions of Morocco at the same venue on Saturday, May 3, with kick-off at 8 p.m. local time 9 p.m. Nigeria time. The Flying Eagles will wrap up their Group B matches with a showdown against South Africa on Tuesday, May 6, also in Korhogo, starting at 5 p.m. local time.
Nigeria qualified for this tournament after successfully defending their WAFU B U20 Championship title in Lome, Togo, in October 2024. Preparations are in full swing, with the team currently holding camp in Katsina, supported by the state government.
A semi-final finish in Côte d’Ivoire will not only secure continental bragging rights but also guarantee Nigeria a spot at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, scheduled for September 27 to October 19.
