Boboye Reflects on First 10 Games as Sunshine Coach

Kennedy Boboye, the head coach of Sunshine Stars, shared his reflections on his initial ten games in charge, expressing that the journey has been less than ideal. Despite a narrow defeat to Sporting Lagos, underscored by a 19th minute header from Pascal Durugbor, Boboye remains optimistic about the future.

Discussing the challenges faced, Boboye highlighted his inability to fully instill his vision within the team. It hasn’t been wonderful because I couldn’t inject what I wanted into the team. The individuals I encountered upon arrival are talented, yet they don’t necessarily fit the mould of what I envisage for our gameplay, he explained.

Boboye also touched upon the team’s prospects, suggesting a strategic addition of players to align with his philosophy, rather than a complete overhaul. We plan to enrich the squad with some new players suited to our style, but we’re not looking at a total restructuring, he added.

As Sunshine Stars currently stand 16th with 35 points, their next challenge is a home game against the title contenders, Enyimba, at the Akure Township Stadium.
