Benin City Born CB Among 5 Nigerians Eligible for Liverpool in PL

Liverpool has submitted its squad list for the first half of the 2024-2025 Premier League season, with five young players of Nigerian descent eligible to represent the club. These youngsters Emmanuel Airoboma 17, Louis Enahoro Marcus 18, Lucky Omoruyi 18, Rio Ngumoha 16, and Folami Onanuga 18 have all been included in the U21 roster, which allows unlimited players born after January 1, 2003, without counting toward the 25 man squad limit.

Among them is Rio Ngumoha, a recent signing from Chelsea, who completed the five step review process required for academy transfers. Though Ngumoha will begin his Liverpool career with the U18s, he has already trained with the first team during the international break and worked out with the development squad.

Louis Enahoro Marcus, born in Benin City, and midfielder Emmanuel Airoboma are both second year scholars, while Onanuga and Omoruyi signed their first professional contracts with Liverpool last season. These five players will aim to follow in the footsteps of Nigerian talents like Jordon Ibe, Sheyi Ojo, and Ovie Ejaria, who have risen through the youth ranks to make appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League.
