Super Falcons Midfielder Completes Move to Turkish Club Fenerbahçe

Regina Ibiang Otu, a midfielder for Nigeria’s Super Falcons, has completed her transfer to Turkish Women’s Football Super League club Fenerbahçe S.K. Otu signed a two year deal with the option for an additional year, following her stint with AS Saint Etienne in the French league.

Otu was part of the Super Falcons squad for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and trained with the national team for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She played a key role in AS Saint Etienne’s promotion to the top flight, scoring one goal in 20 matches during the 2022-2023 season.

Otu previously played for Belarusian giants FC Minsk. Fenerbahçe S.K. finished third in the Turkish Women’s Super League last season with 66 points from 30 matches. By joining Fenerbahçe, Otu follows in the footsteps of notable Nigerian internationals such as Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Uche Okechukwu, Joseph Yobo, Emmanuel Emenike, and Bright Osayi Samuel, who have all played for the Istanbul-based club.
