Chukwudi Cap Tied to Faroe Islands After Nations League Appearance

Talented central defender of Nigerian descent, Samuel Johansen Chukwudi, has officially been cap tied to the Faroe Islands after featuring in their UEFA Nations League match against North Macedonia on September 7, 2024. This appearance makes him ineligible to play for the Super Eagles in the future. Chukwudi, born in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, was eligible to represent Nigeria through his father but opted to continue his international career with his country of birth.

Chukwudi had previously played in three friendlies for the Faroe Islands before making his competitive debut. Following his cap tie match, he featured again in another Nations League encounter against Latvia, bringing his total appearances for the Faroe Islands to five. The HB Tórshavn star also spent part of the 2022-2023 season on loan with Belgian club Royale Union Saint Gilloise.
