Premier League side Bournemouth have invited Zane Okoro, a highly rated Nigerian forward from Lincoln City, for a trial with a potential move in sight.
The 17 year old striker made headlines when he became Lincoln City’s second youngest goalscorer at 17 years and 49 days, netting in a 5-0 win over Manchester City U21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on November 12, 2024. He achieved this milestone just 16 days older than club record-holder Andy Hutchinson.
Okoro, who was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, is eligible to represent both Nigeria and the United States at the international level.
Bournemouth’s U21 coaching staff observed Okoro closely during a Professional Development League fixture against QPR, with the player accompanied by his Nigerian father.
Lincoln City considers Okoro a future first-team star, having included him in nine official matchday squads, with five appearances in League One. However, they now face a battle to keep hold of their talented teenager amid increasing interest from Premier League clubs.
