Paul Onuachu is in a race against time to be fit for Southampton’s weekend fixture against West Ham United, following an ankle injury sustained in their 3–0 home defeat to Aston Villa. The Nigerian striker was substituted at halftime and replaced by Tyler Dibling.
Interim manager Simon Rusk offered an update ahead of the match, stating that Onuachu’s availability is “50-50” and will be determined after a final assessment on Friday. “He’s back in and around it the last day or two,” Rusk told the club’s official website. “We’re hopeful but it’s not conclusive.”
Onuachu, 30, has scored four goals in 22 Championship appearances this season and remains a key part of the Saints’ promotion push.
