Oyo FA Chairman,Ladan Bosso Lead Campaign Against Unregistered Coaches

Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, HRM Oba James Odeniran, has spearheaded an initiative to eliminate unregistered and unqualified coaches from operating in Oyo State. This campaign, which aligns with Oyo State’s reputation as a pacesetter, seeks to ensure that only coaches with licenses approved by the Nigeria Football Coaches Association NFCA are allowed to conduct training and organize matches.

The initiative, launched on May 29, was supported by government representatives, the State FA Chairman, and other NFF statutory bodies. Odeniran emphasized the importance of professionalism and security in football coaching, stating that the state would not permit anyone without a verified license to coach players.

The Chairman of NFCA Oyo State Chapter, Akinola Olatunji, expressed gratitude to the Oyo FA and reiterated the negative impact of unlicensed coaches on the profession. He assured that the NFCA would take strict measures against unqualified individuals posing as coaches. The association, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission CAC, oversees 1,394 members across the state’s 33 local governments and is committed to enhancing football development.

During a briefing at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Olatunji announced that only registered coaches with operational licenses would be allowed to practice in Oyo State. This measure aims to protect aspiring footballers from unqualified coaching.

The event featured dignitaries such as Otunba Seye Famojuro, Hon. Waslat Adegoke Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaji Hazmat Ismail Kolade CEO of Cool Global Interlinks, and Barrister Rotimi Ali Chairman of the Ibadan Zonal Football Association.
