The Nigeria Football Federation NFF has paid tribute to former football club owners Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, who both passed away within days of each other. Chief Iwuanyanwu, who passed on July 25, 2024, at the age of 82, was known for transforming the Spartans Football Club of Owerri into Iwuanyanwu Nationale. Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who died on July 27, 2024, at 52, took over Gabros International of Nnewi, renaming it FC IfeanyiUbah.
Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau expressed shock and sadness, noting the significant investments both men made in Nigerian football, empowering youth and helping to grow the sport. He reminisced about Iwuanyanwu Nationale’s achievements and FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup. Gusau extended prayers for their eternal rest and fortitude for their families.
