2024 IASC Achievers’ Cup: Intense First Round Sets for Fierce 2nd Round

Ike Okorafor, Director of Sports and Chairman of the Sports Management Committee for the 2024 IASC Providus Bank Achievers’ Cup, has praised the tournament’s competitive nature during its first round. Okorafor expressed excitement over the balance and intensity displayed by the teams, promising an even more exciting second round when the tournament resumes after a week long break.

The first round featured a round robin format, with Team PROSSY emerging as the leaders, securing seven points after two commanding 3-0 victories over Team T-Gold and Team CANDL, followed by a 1-1 draw against Team Kendoriz. Team T Gold sits in second place with six points, recovering from an opening loss to PROSSY with back-to-back wins. Meanwhile, Team Kendoriz, with two draws, and Team CANDL, with one point, remain in contention as they look to turn things around in the next round.

Okorafor expects the competition to intensify, with nine points still up for grabs. He highlighted the importance of maintaining a conducive environment and ensuring the teams play with respect and discipline. The second round begins on November 23 at the Lagos Business School football pitch.
