Defender Eligible for Nigeria, England, Jamaica Released by Bolton

Bolton Wanderers have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season. Among those released is versatile defender Nathanael Ogbeta, who has now become unemployed as his contract with Swansea City also expires on June 30, 2024.

Ogbeta, who can represent Nigeria, England, and Jamaica, joined Bolton on loan from Swansea City and appeared in seventeen matches, scoring two goals and providing four assists. Despite his contributions, Bolton decided not to extend his stay. Ogbeta had previously been with Manchester City for ten years and played for Shrewsbury Town before moving to Swansea City in January 2022. He spent the second half of the 2022-2023 season on loan at Peterborough United.

Bolton narrowly missed out on promotion to the EFL Championship, losing 2-0 to Oxford United in the League One playoff final. Despite this setback, the club retained Ibadan-born striker Victor Adeboyejo for the 2024-2025 season.
