Nasarawa State Unveils Plan for Mini Sports Stadium in Toto LGA

In a strategic move to advance sports development and provide top tier facilities for athletes, Nasarawa State Government has unveiled plans to build a mini sports stadium in Toto Local Government Area. The stadium, which will be located at the Toto Central Primary School, will include a 500 seating capacity, multipurpose playing fields, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as modern amenities like locker rooms, showers, a medical centre, administrative offices, and floodlights for evening events.

Hon. Simbabi Mohammed Garba, the representative of Toto/Gadabuke Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has been a driving force behind this project, which he first envisioned in 2014. During a site inspection, Hon. Garba expressed his dedication to making the stadium a hub for sports training, community engagement, and economic growth. He highlighted the project’s advantageous location near Abuja and Lokoja, which is expected to attract visitors and generate revenue for the state.

The site inspection team, which included representatives from the State Ministry of Youth and Sports, Nasarawa State Geographic Information Service NAGIS, and other key stakeholders, approved the proposed location. Hon. Garba, who also serves as the House Committee Chairman on Youth and Sports Development, led the team to the Palace of the Ohinoyi of Ogye, HRH Alh. Muhammad Umar Azaki, to inform him of the project and seek his royal blessings.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango, is expected to brief Governor Abdullahi Sule on the plans for this and four additional sports facilities across the state.
