Bayern’s Musiala Discusses His Nigerian Heritage

Jamal Musiala, the Bayern Munich standout midfielder, recently shared insights into his Nigerian heritage. During an appearance on the popular YouTube food show ‘How hungry are you’ hosted by Serge Ibaka, Musiala expressed equal love for his fatherland, Nigeria, and his maternal roots in Germany. Raised in England, he has yet to visit Africa but holds a deep fascination for the continent due to his father’s stories and the Nigerian culture imparted to him from a young age.

My dad is Nigerian and he introduced me to much of the culture through the cuisine, preparing fufu regularly while I grew up in England, Musiala disclosed. When pressed on which country he holds dearer, Nigeria or Germany, he responded diplomatically, stating, Out of respect, I can’t choose. I have immense respect for both countries.

Musiala’s journey in international football includes playing for both England and Germany’s youth teams before officially joining the German national team, Die Mannschaft, in February 2021.
