Osogbo Stadium renovation nears completion, boosting sports and economy

Renovation works at the Osogbo Township Stadium are nearing completion, with steady progress being made to transform the facility into a world class sports complex. On February 4, 2025, a delegation of sports enthusiasts and media professionals visited the construction site, expressing optimism about the project’s timely completion.

Project Manager Arc. John Ewule confirmed that two outdoor pitches will be ready by May 2025, with the entire renovation scheduled to conclude within 12 months. The overhaul, being carried out by Maxwell International Ventures Limited, includes state-of-the-art facilities aimed at promoting sports development, talent discovery, and economic growth in Osun State.

The revamped stadium will feature cutting-edge amenities such as a modern scoreboard, improved seating, an ultra-modern VIP section, enhanced lighting, and new concession stands. Beyond sports, it will accommodate year-round entertainment and economic activities, contributing to the state’s revenue through events and tourism.

Key highlights of the upgraded facility include:

• Two artificial turf fields and one natural grass pitch
• An artificial hockey pitch and a multipurpose indoor sports hall
• Two tartan tracks and a squash court
• A swimming pool and athlete hostels
• Covered seating, a main bowl pitch, and a shopping complex
