Nigerian centre forward David Ankeye has joined Romanian SuperLiga club Rapid Bucharest on loan from Italian Serie A side Genoa. The agreement will see Ankeye remain with the Romanian outfit until the end of the current season.
Ankeye, 22, arrived in Bucharest on Monday and is expected to replace Aaron Boupendza, who is no longer part of Rapid Bucharest’s plans. The move is aimed at providing Ankeye with more regular playing time, as he has struggled for minutes at Genoa this season, featuring in only five games as a substitute and accumulating 52 minutes in total.
